The Meek Life
Meekness is one of the most misunderstood words in the Christian life, but Jesus placed it at the heart of the Beatitudes for a reason. It is not weakness or pushover-ness. It is the intentional choice to submit your power and influence to the will of God. True humility means recognizing your God-given strengths and pointing them back to Him rather than using them for personal gain. Jesus modeled this perfectly during His trial and crucifixion, staying silent before His accusers and praying for forgiveness on behalf of those who were killing Him. That kind of meekness is not passive. It is one of the most powerful postures a person can take. The promise of Matthew 5:5 still stands: the meek will inherit the earth, just as Jesus, the meekest of all, already has.
