First

Most of us want our lives to matter, but Jesus challenges the way we think about greatness and honor. In Matthew 20, a mother approaches Jesus and asks for her sons to sit in the places of honor in His kingdom. Jesus responds not with a rebuke, but with a question: do they truly understand what they are asking? He then redefines greatness, calling His followers to become servants rather than seek the highest seat. True greatness in His kingdom looks nothing like the world's version of success. Because Jesus is first, we are freed from the exhausting pursuit of position. The invitation is to serve others in a way that costs something, not to earn a seat, but to reflect who He is.
