The Peace Life

Peace does not come naturally to us. Left to ourselves, we move toward self-protection, avoidance, and pride rather than reconciliation. But Jesus calls His followers to be peacemakers, people who step toward difficult conversations instead of away from them. The foundation of this calling is not willpower or personality. It is the peace that God Himself initiated toward us through Christ. Because God moved first, we are empowered to move first with others. The Holy Spirit will always bring someone to mind and point us toward a next step. The question is whether we will respond.
